Most single people know the value of being seen. It is very difficult to attract a life partner and then build a relationship by sitting in a room by yourself! You need to get out and meet people.
And so it is with business! You need to be visible and be seen.
Yet, just as in the "singles scene" there are places... and there are places. Go to the wrong one and you will either meet the wrong type of person or no-one at all.
And business is exactly the same. When networking you need to be visible and you need to be in the right company.
So a good strategy, if you want more business, is to...
1. Make your self visible by going to places where you can meet other people
2. Make sure the groups you visit are made up of the type of people you need to meet
Rather than just going to any networking meeting because networking is a great way to build business, decide on...
a. what group is most likely to give you opportunities to meet the right people
b. what is your strategy for meeting people when you get there
One absolute must are business cards. I am constantly amazed at people who turn up at a networking opportunity with only 1 card or even worse, none at all.
And then remember why you came! Have a goal for the number of people you want to meet who will also remember you after the meeting!
